SPECIAL MEETING AUG. 16, 2007
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING 5:30 P.M.
First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.
PUBLIC WORKS
The Board signed bills. Lynn asked that her phone numbers be added to the minutes so people can have them.
Office – 684-9313, Fax - 684-9313, Cell – 428-4110. Lynn reported she found another culvert on Cowles Road; they put down 300 tons of asphalt this week. Catch basin cleaning will start on Monday; they will also do the cyclone on Village Hill Road. Lynn will get together with Ann Strong regarding the work on the bus depot. Discussion followed on clean up after tree removal. Selectmen Patton & Lewis have looked at the area. First Selectman Eldredge will also look at it. First Selectman Eldredge asked Selectman Patton to write a memo about gossip among employees. Selectman Patton will do this. Lynn commented we are all set on the compactor. Discussion followed on easements; First Selectman Eldredge will talk to S. Yorgensen on this.
Discussion followed on the DEP work at the Transfer Station. Lynn has talked to Tim Wentzell regarding removal of ballasts; he is sending a letter to her. Discussion followed on the electric breaks and chip sealing. Dave Charette commented that there is a meeting on the rest areas on Tuesday night. Selectman Lewis asked where are we on the Miller report? Selectman Patton commented we will have to come up with something on Monday regarding a recommendation. First Selectman Eldredge commented I have questions on the report and want to talk to Eileen Miller. Selectman Lewis commented I thought you recused yourself from this. Further discussion on this followed. Selectman Lewis asked where are we on the chemical shed? Discussion on this followed. Putting together a chemical shed ourselves would cost $13,965 plus installation; a complete chemical shed, delivered & installed would cost $14,937. First
Selectman Eldredge commented he doesn’t think it will add up to $13,965, it is $6,900 for the basic container. Selectman Lewis commented it is better to buy the completed one and move the existing one at Public Works to the Transfer Station.
SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED THAT WE BUY THE PRE-MADE CHEMICAL SHED, THE PRICE NOT TO EXCEED $14,950.00
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE: 2 YES (PATTON & LEWIS) 1 NO (ELDREDGE)
SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 6:24 P.M.
