SPECIAL MEETING JULY 9, 2007
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING FOLLOWING THE SENIOR
HOUSING PROJECT COM. MEETING
First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 6:23 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.
AWARD CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR ROUTE 74 BRIDGE
Selectman Patton commented we had interviews on 6/27/07; we did not get revisions from Lenard Engineering, Inc. Discussion followed regarding the interviews. All members of the Bridge Committee, the Board, K. Acimovic, L. Nicholls, D. Charette, M. Palmer and R. Tulis, agreed they liked the Pare proposal and presentation.
FIRST SELECTMAN ELDREDGE MOVED THAT WE AWARD THE CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE ROUTE 74 BRIDGE TO PARE CORPORATION FOR PHASE 1 THROUGH 3 FOR $15,000 AND FOR PHASE 4 FOR $2,900 AS PER THEIR PROPOSAL.
Selectman Patton seconded the motion.
VOTE: 3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS) 0 NO
BID OPENING – TINKERVILLE ROAD BRIDGE
Three bids were received:
Hipsky $60,640.00
Putnam Welding $57,800.00
Sadow $99,630
FIRST SELECTMAN ELDREDGE MOVED THAT WE AWARD THE TINKERVILLE ROAD BRIDGE CULVERT PROJECT TO PUTNAM WELDING FOR $57,800.00.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE: 3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS) 0 NO
PUBLIC WORKS
The Board signed bills and leave request. Discussion followed on the FEMA application for Turnpike Rd. Extension. Karl is working up the cost. The original application to FEMA was for $33,100 and we would receive $24,825. Discussion followed on the work to be done and keeping the area open.
SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED THAT WE AUTHORIZE THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR AND THE TOWN ENGINEER TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATION FOR TURNPIKE ROAD EXTENSION CULVERT CROSSING TO FEMA.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE: 3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS) 0 NO
First Selectman Eldredge asked how long will it take to get the project done. Lynn commented she does not know yet. She will get a time line. Discussion on Fisher Hill and Eldredge Mills Roads followed; it was agreed to go to bid on these, from time & material contracts, and combine some jobs on a road. Lynn commented that there were some problems at the Transfer Station on Sat. The Transfer Station Operator did not call me but called the First Selectman. I would like to be informed. The Operator commented he did call her. Discussion followed. Selectman Patton asked are the attendants first aid qualified? They are not. The name and address of the party involved was not taken but the incident must be reported. The first aid kit must be updated. Selectman Patton asked was a message was left on the Supervisor’s phone? The Operator said no. Selectman Patton commented you must leave a message. First Selectman Eldredge agreed. Lynn commented the Operator called her Sunday
regarding having Monday off and never mentioned there were 2 incidents on Sat. The

Operator commented he had a lot on his mind.
SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 7:16 P.M.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
