BOARD OF SELECTMEN

SPECIAL MEETING                                                                                                                    JUNE 21, 2007
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING                                                                                                              5:00 P.M.

First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 5:05 P.M. with the following in attendance:  Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L. Nicholls, K. Acimovic and residents.

PUBLIC WORKS   
The Board signed bills.  Discussion followed on the Tinkerville Road project, the traffic control and detour route.  Lynn has talked to C.L. & P. already about this.  Lynn will inform the State Police, the Fire Department, the Post Office, Tolland Dispatch, the School Bus Company and Ashford Public Works.  A right of way form will be obtained for homeowners to sign.  Discussion on cost for the project followed.  Karl will get the plans ready for bid.  Karl commented the Town should have an excavation permit signed by anyone working on the roads. Lynn commented she will call the State about chip seal bids.  Discussion followed on snowplow bids, they will go out for a 2-year bid.  Discussion followed on the title for the 1990 truck that was just awarded by bid; there is no title to it and the MVD charges $50. for one.  The Town will pay for that, not the buyer.  Lynn called Willimantic Waste on the electrical for the compactor; he has not gotten back to her yet.  Lynn commented we need to send the State a new printout of the Transfer Station since we are changing the routing.  The Operation & Management Plan must be changed also.  Discussion followed on what items were necessary to change or fix for the Transfer Station permit.  First Selectman Eldredge asked are we ready to order the container?  Selectman Patton commented he is waiting for the price for the louvers.

PROPOSALS – ENGINEERING SERVICES – ROUTE 74 BRIDGE
2 proposals were received.
Lenard Engineering, Inc. – Phase 1 - $19,000.
                                           Phase 2 - $  5,000.
                                           Phase 3 -  Hourly Rates, fee schedule attached.

Selectman Patton commented he would let the Board of Finance know the figures.  Discussion followed on the amount to ask for; it was decided to ask for $30,000.  Discussion followed about having a Town Meeting on Tinkerville Rd. and the Engineering Services money.  The Board of Finance will be asked about this also.

SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 6:15 P.M.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
