BOARD OF SELECTMEN

SPECIAL MEETING                                                                                                                    APR. 12, 2007
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING                                                                                                              6:30 P.M.

First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. with the following in attendance:  Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.

PUBLIC WORKS
The Board signed bills and leave requests.  Discussion on uniforms followed.  It was agreed one of the crew could buy his own pants and be reimbursed.  Lynn commented Lou’s truck came in, the calcium tank will be added in the fall.  The truck has been added to the insurance.  Lynn commented OSHA wants the guardrails on the mezzanine increased to 42” from 36”; they are 60’ across.  The cost to do this is $1,200 for labor & material.  The Board agreed to do the railings at this price.  Lynn commented most of the electrical at the Transfer Station & Public Works has been done.  She is getting the chains certified next week.  Selectman Patton asked if there was a letter for the Board of Finance for the railings at the Transfer Station.  First Selectman Eldredge commented he wrote a letter for the chemical shed but did not include the railings.  A copy of the letter was distributed.  Discussion on the old truck and plow followed.  Lynn is going to check on prices and come back to the Board; the thought is that the truck and plow might be put up for sealed bids with a minimum bid of $10,000.  Lynn commented we need a sign on the wall at the ball field in back of the Town Office Building so kids do not pull rocks from the wall.  River Road Recreation Area needs signs that dogs must be on a leash and people need to clean up after the dogs.  Selectman Lewis commented there are lots of rocks there that must be picked up before mowing.  Selectman Patton commented it needs fertilizing also. Lynn commented there is some rebar that came up also.  A metal detector is necessary to check on this.  This will be discussed with the Recreation Dept.

SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 6:35 P.M.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE:  3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS)    0  NO

Respectfully submitted,
