BOARD OF SELECTMEN

SPECIAL MEETING                                                                                                                    NOV. 14, 2006
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING                                                                                                              5:30 P.M.

First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M. with the following in attendance:  Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.

BIDS – GUARDRAIL INSTALLATION AT RIVER ROAD RECREATION AREA
Only one bid was received, from Alliance Fence.  Alternate 1 - $23,050.  Alternate 2 - $20,000.  Alternate 3 - $22,500.  alternate 4 - $19,000.  First Selectman Eldredge commented the Recreation Commission wants to reject the bid since it is over budget.  They will make some changes and go back out to bid.

FIRST SELECTMAN ELDREDGE MOVED TO REJECT THE BID FOR THE GUARDRAIL INSTALLATION AT RIVER ROAD RECREATION AREA DUE TO COMING IN OVER BUDGET.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE:  3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS)    0  NO

PUBLIC WORKS
Time cards and bills were signed.  Lynn reported that her truck broke down again and then a 3rd time, there appears to be a major problem with the wiring.  Discussion on this followed.  First Selectman Eldredge commented drive in overdrive and see if you have any more problems with it.  Selectman Patton asked is there anything with the compactor?  Lynn commented she met with Tim DeVivo last Monday; they went to the Transfer Station to look over everything and discussed where the new compactor could go.  They will get back to her with prices.  Selectman Patton asked how was the loader class?  Lynn commented everyone showed up, it was good.  Lynn is still having problems with the computer in her office.  Lynn commented Ed Taimen, Chairman of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, wants to have a meeting regarding recycling at the Transfer Station.  This will be set up.  Lynn needs copies of the contracts for the Transfer Station.  

OTHER
First Selectman Eldredge asked the Board would either of you like to be the Municipal ADA Coordinator?  Selectman Patton commented he would like to be but he can’t.  Selectman Lewis commented he can’t commit, he doesn’t have the time.  Selectman Patton suggested putting a request for a volunteer on the Internet.  This will be done.  The Federated Church is collecting things for care packages for U.S. troops; this will be put on the Internet also.

FIRST SELECTMAN ELDREDGE MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 6:10 P.M.
Selectman Patton seconded the motion.
VOTE:  3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS)    0  NO
