BOARD OF SELECTMEN

SPECIAL MEETING                                                                                                                    SEPT. 25, 2006
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING                                                                                                              5:43 P.M.

Selectman Patton called the meeting to order at 5:43 P.M. with the following in attendance:  Selectman Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.  First Selectman Eldredge was absent.

Time cards, bills and invoices were signed.  Lynn reported that the windshield of the suburban was shot.  Lynn’s truck is being fixed and the black truck is being worked on.  Lynn commented the new dump truck hoist pump is leaking again, she sent it back and told them to put in a new pump.  Lynn commented we will be doing work on Moose Meadow and Battye Roads along with the corner of Cosgrove and Jared Sparks Roads.  Selectman Patton commented we are still in the running for the Dog Warden van.  Lynn commented Wednesday we will be on Village Hill to pick up debris from the storm.  Selectman Patton asked Lynn what do other towns do about chip sealing?  Lynn replied they show the contractors the roads and the contractors come back with a complete price.  I think they get a better price that way.  Selectman Patton asked Lynn did you hear anything from Willimantic Waste about the compactor?  Lynn said not yet.  Lynn commented a hauler took their stuff there and tried to charge it to the Town; I told them they could not do that.  Selectman Patton commented the chip sealing is done and the asphalt is almost done.  Lynn commented we are getting lots of calls asking when we will sweep it up.  Lynn commented she is trying to get prices on stripping the roads.  Lynn also reported that under the Village Hill Bridge is rusty.  Discussion on the type of paint used on the bridge followed.  Selectman Lewis commented if we leave a bucket of sand near the bad spot on Latham Road a gentleman would sand it when it freezes to prevent problems.

SELECTMAN LEWIS MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 6:00 P.M.
Selectman Patton seconded the motion.
VOTE:  3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS )    0  NO
