BOARD OF SELECTMEN

SPECIAL MEETING                                                                                                                    SEPT. 14, 2006
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING                                                                                                              5:00 P.M.

Selectman Patton called the meeting to order at 5:04 P.M. with the following in attendance:  Selectman Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.  First Selectman Eldredge was absent.

PUBLIC WORKS
Time cards and bills were signed.  Lynn commented that the tractor will have to be taken apart to determine if the problem is with either the tractor seal or the line in the sleeve.  It could cost $6,000/7,000 to repair.  It never had problems before; the transmission is almost new.  Selectman Patton commented we need to fix it.
Selectman Patton asked did you look at the gallonage and how it is estimated for chip sealing?  Lynn replied she will do a break down by roads.  Selectman Patton asked is Turnpike Road scheduled for Monday?  Lynn replied yes, Monday morning.  Lynn reported that the small dump truck came in this morning.  Selectman Patton commented we can start the process of selling the other one by bid.  Selectman Patton commented that First Selectman Eldredge and Karl Acimovic met with Close Jensen & Miller and the State regarding Kechkes Road Bridge, we must form a committee to deal with this.  We can go to bid for consulting engineer soon.  More will be discussed about this at our Monday meeting.  Selectman Patton commented when things settle down we can look at drainage on Village Hill and Turnpike Roads.  Lynn commented that Karl recommended chip sealing all the way through on Village Hill Road.  Lynn commented we need to get the drainage on Latham Road done.  Selectman Patton commented we could bid Turnpike and Village Hill Roads together, there may be some savings.  Selectman Patton commented we need to think about Turnpike Road after the drainage and we need to start lowering some of the roads.  Discussion on this followed.

Future meetings in September are the regular Board meeting on the 18th. and special meetings on the 21st at 5 PM, the 25th. at 5 PM and the 28th. at 5 PM.
