REGULAR MEETING SEPT. 2, 2003
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING 6:30 P. M.
First Selectman Patton called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectmen Eldredge & Lewis, R. Hisey, L. Nicholls and J. Semmelrock. First Selectman Patton led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
SELECTMAN ELDREDGE MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF 8/18/03 & 8/22/03.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE: 3 YES (PATTON, ELDREDGE & LEWIS) 0 NO
PRESENT TO SPEAK – No one.
CORRESPONDENCE
A list of correspondence was available at the meeting and in the Selectman’s office. First Selectman Patton commented that there is a complaint that is being investigated; he is getting statements from the people involved.
OLD BUSINESS - None
APPOINTMENTS
SELECTMAN ELDREDGE MOVED TO RE-APPOINT JOHN PATTON AS THE EASTERN HIGHLANDS HEALTH DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE, EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2003 TO MAY 31, 2006.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE: 3 YES (PATTON, ELDREDGE & LEWIS) 0 NO
REHAB CASE
Case #98-5 is requesting forgiveness of the remainder of their Rehab lien. First Selectman Patton explained that the house was sold but they were unable to pay off the lien. An agreement was signed where they gave a $5,000 deposit and paid $150.00 per month starting 4/1/99. The balance of the lien is $9,753.00. Due to the retirement of one and ill health of the other they have an income of $1,800 per month. They have a college age child they are trying to help. They are asking for forgiveness of the $9,753.00. They no longer live in

Connecticut. The Board agreed they could not forgive the remainder of the debt but could lower the monthly payments to $100.00. First Selectman Patton will get in touch with them.
PUBLIC WORKS
Lynn Nicholls, Supervisor of Public Works, reported that chip sealing is done; they are going over some punch list items for the Center School parking lot. Dick Claus is happy with the work done at the pound, they are going to shim Turnpike Road and the guardrails that were down on Eldredge Mills Road have been fixed. Lynn commented that they are getting organized.
TAX REFUNDS
FIRST SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED TO APPROVE A TAX REFUND OF $200.16 TO AUTOMOTIVE RENTALS INC.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.
VOTE: 3 YES (PATTON, ELDREDGE & LEWIS) 0 NO
FIRST SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED TO APPROVE A TAX REFUND OF $23.90 TO ANDREA KELLY.
Selectman Eldredge seconded the motion.
VOTE: 3 YES (PATTON, ELDREDGE & LEWIS) 0 NO
FIRST SELECTMAN PATTON MOVED TO APPROVE A TAX REFUND OF $14.98 TO MARY BETH LUCHON.
Selectman Lewis seconded the motion.

GOOD & WELFARE
Selectman Lewis asked if we heard anything about the grievance? First Selectman Patton commented that the Union Representative is working on it. First Selectman Patton reported that the Public Hearing for the Senior Center is on the next PZC agenda. Jan Kasacek will be interviewing our 3 new employees for the senior newsletter. Ann Huff passed away; sympathy is extended to her family.
