MINUTES
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
MARCH 28, 2001
Public hearing was opened at 7:00pm by First Selectman John Patton. Rob Miller from the Eastern Highlands Health District was present to speak and answer questions. He read a letter, addressed to our selectmen, from the Town of Bolton who is a member of the district. Discussion followed.
The town joining this district would eliminate the part time positions of the Sanitarian, Restaurant and Health inspectors.
The cost of the town joining this would be $21,300, based on per capita. The contract would be for two years. The district is located at the Mansfield Town Hall and has a sanitarian based at each town office building that is a member.
Public hearing closed at 7:29pm.
Special Town meeting was called to order at 7:29pm by John Patton, First Selectman.
John read the call of the meeting and asked for nominations for a moderator. Wayne Knight made a motion to appoint John Patton as moderator of the meeting
and was seconded by Ralph Tulis.
Motion was carried
Item I
To consider and vote on a resolution regarding joining Eastern Highlands Health District per State Statute 19a-241 Formation of District Departments.
Wayne Knight made a motion and was seconded by Ralph Tulis to approve Item I.
No discussion.
Resolution carried
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:30P.M.
Motion carried.

RESOLUTION
Whereas, the Town of Willington has evaluated the issue of providing municipal public
health services to the residents of Willington;
Whereas, in accordance with section 19a-241(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes the
Town of Willington has held a public hearing on the issue to join the Eastern
Highlands Health District;
Whereas, The Town of Willington held a Town Meeting in which a motion to join the
Eastern Highlands Health District was approved;
Now Therefore Be It Resolved, that in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes
19a-241(a) the Town of Willington hereby joins the Eastern Highlands Health
District.
