Committee Minutes
Regular Meeting
June 23rd 2014
Attending Members: Joe Colangelo, Mike Pinatti, Ed Taiman, and Al Ference were in attendance.
Attending Non Members: None. Teri Gareau was not in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 7:25 PM.
I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WPRC meeting were not available and will be reviewed at our next meeting.
II. GENERAL DISCUSSION:
There was no one present for general discussion. Previous to our meeting starting, a photo was taken of our Red Sox
tickets winner to be posted on the town website, the WPRC Facebook page, and the Willington Word. Our winner
was Jeff Glass of Willington, who is a member of Willington Little League, and great kid. Congratulations Jeff, and
enjoy the game! The proceeds of the raffle will be used to erect a scoreboard at the RRAC for Little League games.
III. DIRECTORS REPORT:
No Directors report was provided.
IV. OLD BUSINESS:
A. Review of the RRAC irrigation project was as follows:
• An appropriate building to house the water expansion/storage tank and associated hardware will be a 12’ X
20’ shed with a rollup garage door on one end, and a pedestrian door and windows on the side facing the ball
field. We are pursuing three vendors for pricing.
• Our water pump should be a minimum of 1 HP, and we will review this with the well company to design a
water delivery system that will be appropriate to the irrigation we will be providing.
• The members of the WPRC will walk the site previous to our next meeting to realize the best position of the
storage building, which will allow for a stone base to be laid, and the irrigation and electrical conduits to be
terminated at the storage building.
B. Field reviews: Mike Pinatti reports that the infield at the RRAC has experienced water buildup
following rain storms that created puddles deep enough that the LL coaches are pumping out the area in
order to play games. A drainage system may be necessary for this area.
C. Scoreboard timeline for the RRAC: It was decided that our first installation would be setting the poles
for the scoreboard. 16’ posts @ 6” X 6” pressure treated, with 4’ in the ground. This would be
followed by the electrical work terminated at the scoreboard and behind home plate. The hope is that
we have the money and ability to install the scoreboard for Spring 2015.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
A. No review of “summer programs” was available.
VI. ADJOURNMENT:
Joe Colangelo motioned to adjourn, which was seconded by Al Ference. The meeting adjourned at 8:30PM. The next
meeting is scheduled for July 28th, 2014 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall Office Building.
Respectfully submitted 6/24/14 Joseph C. Colangelo
