Committee Minutes
Regular Meeting
May 29th 2008
8:00 PM
Attending Members: Greg Suchy (arrived @ 8:17PM), (Al Ference arrived at 8:26PM), Joseph Colangelo, Mike Pinatti, Ed Taiman, and Greg Blessing were in attendance. John Sahi, Erin Smith and Kathy Blessing were also in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 8:05 PM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed. Ed Taiman made a motion to accept the minutes without changes, which was seconded by Joseph Colangelo. All members were unanimous in approval. The minutes for the 2-11-08 meeting were not reviewed.
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
1. The Little League shed at the RRAC needs to be relocated. A plan showing this location must be submitted to the Planning and Zoning Department. A permit must be taken at the Building Department.
2. The Recreation Department budget needs to be reconfigured to reflect how money is appropriated and spent per program, and how it applies to the general needs of the department. Field maintenance should be considered as a line item on our budget. Kathy Blessing gave the Commission great input on how to create a better budget and suggested that the WRC review this matter with Donna Latincsics.
DIRECTORS REPORT:
No director’s report was given.
OLD BUSINESS:
A. Following the suggestions made by Kathy Blessing in regards to the WRC creating a better
budget, discussion on how to best provide this continued. The basic responsibilities of the
Recreation Department need to be listed to provide an outline as a basis for a new budget.
B. Discussion of the possible budget changes will be discussed in the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. The installations most important for the RRAC before winter would be a well for irrigation only, and a basic electrical service with some site lighting.
B. Applications for the Recreation Director position were reviewed. Formal interviews will follow.
C. Greg Blessing nominated Joseph Colangelo as the Chairman of the Willington Recreation Commission which was seconded by Ed Taiman. All members were unanimous in approval.
Mike Pinatti nominated Greg Suchy as the Secretary of the Willington Recreation Commission which was seconded by Al Ference. All members were unanimous in approval.
ADJOURNMENT:
Al Ference motioned to adjourn, which was seconded by Ed Taiman. The meeting adjourned at 9:50PM. The next meeting is scheduled for June 24th, 2008 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall Office Building.
