Committee Minutes
Regular Meeting
July 24th, 2007

7:00 PM

Attending Members: Mike Harnad, Greg Suchy, Ed Taiman, Joseph Colangelo, Al Ference, and Mike Pinatti.   John Sahi was also in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed.  Mike Harnad made a motion to accept the minutes without changes, which was seconded by Joseph Colangelo.  All members were unanimous in approval.

GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Ed Taiman suggested the WRC creates a “job description” for the Summer Camp Director duties for summer “08” to further understand the obligations of the Director.

DIRECTORS REPORT:
John Sahi reported that there would be a girl’s softball clinic presented by UCONN players this fall.  The basketball and field hockey summer programs did not have enough attendees to provide the programs, but the soccer camp did go on as planned.

OLD BUSINESS:
Public works has been spreading “millings” on the driveway and parking area at the RRAC.

NEW BUSINESS:
A.      The RRAC facility fall activities will be based on the following criteria.

1.      A possible “grand opening” the third week of September including a baseball and soccer game.
2.      Completion of the infield and warning track by Knight Construction by the second week of August.
3.      Backstop, dugouts, foul lines, and outfield fencing by the first week of September.
4.      Bleachers need to be relocated to the site from other town facilities, or purchased for permanent install at the RRAC, a shed needs to be purchased and put on site, and power needs to be provided for opening day.  If permanent power cannot be provided, Joseph Colangelo will provide an 8K generator for opening day.  Little League should borrow the PA system from the Fire Department for announcements and the national anthem.  Joseph Colangelo will provide scaffolding behind the backstop for “play by play” announcements.

B.       The property being offered to the Recreation Department at Lohsee Road is appropriately sized for softball or soccer, with parking.  “Grubbing”and seeding the site is estimated at $8,000.00.  It was suggested that a soil sample be taken first to see if the property is useable.

ADJOURNMENT:
Mike Harnad motioned to adjourn, which was seconded by Joseph Colangelo.  The meeting adjourned at 8:10PM.  The next meeting is scheduled for August 28th, 2007 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall Office Building.

Respectfully submitted 7/26/07

Joseph C. Colangelo
