7:00 PM
Attending Members: Mike Harnad, Greg Suchy, Joseph Colangelo, Ed Taiman, and Mike Pinatti. John Sahi was also in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 7:36 PM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed. Ed Taiman made a motion to accept the minutes without changes, which was seconded by Mike Harnad. All members were unanimous in approval.
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
· John Sahi will call various contractors in reference to ideas and pricing for “cutting in” an infield at the RRAC.
· John Sahi will have a “site walk” with the Knight’s at the RRAC to review any possible problems or unfinished work including but not limited to: sunken sewer covers between fields, unfinished field area near commuter lot needing seeding, and too much of a swale in left field.
(Al Ference arrives @ 7:41pm)
DIRECTORS REPORT:
No director’s report was given.
OLD BUSINESS:
No Old Business was reviewed.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. Following recent payments it was stated by John Sahi that an approximate total of
$28,000.00 was available for use at the RRAC. This is the money available in Fund 12 and
from various donations. A balance of $10,000.00 will be held in reserve. The remaining
money will be used in the following manner:
1. To pay the balance of the wooden rail fence in the parking area.
2. For completion of the final 110’ X 20’ tall rear netting.
3. For installation of a 5’ chain link fence to run from the end of the 20’ fence to the area past the CL&P poles near the commuter lot. This is considered a “safety fence”.
4. Signage for the RRAC including rules, traffic direction, and entry/exit locations.
5. [2] gates to close the open areas of the wooden rail fence.
Items to complete at the RRAC that John Sahi has considered as being paid for are as
follows:
1. Complete the original 300’ X 20’ tall rear netting.
2. Spread chips at the rear hill leading down to the train tracks.
3. Seed the field area near the commuter lot.
4. Complete the ground boxes for the future water supply system and electrical system.
A discussion of items needed to complete the baseball field at the RRAC included the
following suggestions:
1. Backstop.
2. 8’ chain link fence on each baseline for over throws.
3. Completed chain link fencing from the over throw fences to the foul poles and across the field @ 200’ from home plate.
4. Chain link dugouts.
5. Cutting in of the infield with bases, a warning track, and a pitching mound.
6. Safety tubing along the top of the outfield fence.
Little League of Willington has suggested that it could donate funding for some of these
items to be installed. A cost for these items will be qualified for possible funding. Ed
Taiman will look into the possibility of a “poker night” fund raiser to fund some of the above
items.
B. A conflict of schedules has occurred at the Town Hall Office Fields between Little League,
the Hall School Boys Baseball team, and the Girls Softball program. Only [3] possible
conflicts remain following this meeting. Once the RRAC is useable, some of these conflicts
will still occur. These organizations need to find a way to work around each others
schedules. The Hall School team can only play home games at the Town Hall Office field,
which is considered a Willington Recreational facility. John Sahi may try to assist in future
scheduling of the Town Hall Office Field and the RRAC.
ADJOURNMENT:
Mike Harnad motioned to adjourn, which was seconded by Joseph Colangelo. The meeting adjourned at 8:49PM. The next meeting is scheduled for May 22nd, 2007 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall Office Building.
Respectfully submitted 5/10/07
