Committee Minutes
Special Meeting
April 30th, 2007

                                                       7:00 PM

Attending Members: Mike Harnad, Joseph Colangelo, Al Ference, Greg Blessing and Mike Pinatti.   John Sahi was not in attendance.  This meeting was held at the RRAC site.
Meeting called to order at 7:03 PM.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed, as well as the 2/27/07 meeting.  Al Ference made a motion to accept both minutes without changes, which was seconded by Greg Blessing.  All members were unanimous in approval.

GENERAL DISCUSSION:
·       A constant line of communication needs to be kept open between the WRC and Public Works to keep field maintenance on a regular schedule.  The grass on the All Purpose Field is in bad shape due to mowing too infrequently.  The “clumps” of overgrown grass are choking out the remaining grass leaving the lawn with large patches of “thatch” where grass will not grow.
·       Signs for the RRAC including driving directions and park rules need to be created and installed.
·       The front and rear fencing needs completion along with signage before we can use the RRAC.  Final installs need to be promoted as quickly as possible to allow Soccer teams in town to use the All Purpose Field over the Spring and Summer to alleviate the use of Hall School fields for Softball and Soccer.
(Greg Suchy and Ed Taiman arrive @ 7:14pm)

DIRECTORS REPORT:
No director’s report was made.

OLD BUSINESS:
No Old Business was discussed.

NEW BUSINESS:
The following items were discussed as points to be addressed in the completion of Phase I of the
               RRAC:

·       Will the 20’ tall rear fence extend farther down the 1st base line followed by a 6’ chain link fence extending to the utility pole area?
·       Is Kent Fence responsible for the clean up and seeding of the area around the newly installed fencing both front and rear?
·       Are the breaks in the split rail fence to be provided gates for on another contract?
·       The drainage openings between the fields have eroded and need repair.
·       Mulch at the rear of the fields down to the tracks needs spreading.
·       Soccer field needs de-thatching.
·       The area near the commuter parking lot needs to be completed and seeded.
·       Little League is willing to make a monetary contribution of $5,000.00 to the baseball field.  The suggestion is to install a backstop.  Can this work proceed?
·       All signage needs to be created and installed.
·       The split rail fence at the commuter lot leaves a gap that a car could pass through and onto the field.  This needs to be addressed.
·       There is a broken drainage pipe at a post base on the split rail fence near the commuter lot that needs repair.

ADJOURNMENT:
Mike Harnad motioned to adjourn, which was seconded by Al Ference.  The meeting
adjourned at 8:16.  The next meeting is scheduled for May 8th, 2007 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall Office Building.

Respectfully submitted 5/2/07
