Committee Minutes
Regular Meeting
January 31st, 2007
7:00 PM
Attending Members: Mike Harnad, Joseph Colangelo, Ed Taiman, Mike Pinatti, Greg Suchy and Greg Blessing were in attendance. John Sahi was also in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed. Mike Harnad made a motion to accept the minutes without changes, which was seconded by Ed Taiman. All members were unanimous in approval.
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Ed Taiman has invited Ms. Pinney and Ms. Rheinhart to the next meeting to discuss the possibility of a Willington Arts Program.
DIRECTORS REPORT:
Mr. Sahi reported the following:
· The fence for automobile traffic at the RRAC will be installed following a break in the weather, and once the proper materials are on site.
· There is an upcoming ski trip.
· Property on Lohse Road has been set aside for recreation purposes as required by Planning and Zoning for a new residential neighborhood.
OLD BUSINESS:
The basketball playoffs will be conducted as follows:
· 3-4 grade boys and girls teams will not be in the playoffs.
· Mansfield teams will not be involved in the playoff games.
· [6] playoff games will be played on Saturday the 24th
· [3] championship games will be played on Sunday the 25th.
NOTE: Ed Taiman has requested that John Sahi send evaluation forms via email to all coaches who participated in this year’s basketball program.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. Possible new members for the vacant WRC committee member position were discussed. Al Ferrance has sent a resume to the WRC for review. Joseph Colangelo made a motion to nominate Al Ferrance to the position, which was seconded by Greg Blessing. All members were unanimous in approval.
B. The RRAC projects were proposed in phases as follows:
· Phase 1-Saftey fencing, baseball field, and parking lot grading.
· Phase 2-Walking trail.
· Phase 3-Basketball and volleyball courts.
· Phase 4-Tennis courts.
· Phase 5-Playscape.
· Phase 6-Community Center.
C. The Summer Camp program is being turned into a Willington Recreation program. It is assumed that the camp funding will become a part of the Recreation budget, and managed by John Sahi with the help of the former director.
ADJOURNMENT:
Joseph Colangelo motioned to adjourn, which was seconded by Ed Taiman. The meeting adjourned at 8:17PM. The next meeting is scheduled for February 27th, 2006 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall Office Building.
