Committee Minutes
Regular Meeting
April 25th, 2006
7:00 PM
Attending Members: Mike Harnad, Joseph Colangelo, Greg Blessing, Greg Suchy and Bob Portello.
Meeting called to order at 7:04 PM. (Ed Taiman arrives @ 7:12 PM)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed. Bob Portello made a motion to accept the minutes without changes, which was seconded by Greg Blessing. All members were unanimous in approval.
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
It was suggested that more fertilizer be applied to the All Purpose Field at the RRAC. Some moss and bare spots are showing up. There was also discussion about the proper process necessary to approach the CIP for funding WRC projects. A subcommittee should be created for this purpose. Ed Taiman has agreed to check on the availability of scoreboards for baseball to be taken from the former Sports Complex in Vernon.
DIRECTORS REPORT:
John Sahi was not present to report.
OLD BUSINESS:
A. Mike was not present tonight to discuss his findings. Greg Blessing would like to pursue the installation of a water line to the home plate area of the baseball field.
B. The company providing the sign will install the sign at the RRAC.
C. The WRC will not be involved with Opening Day for Little League.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. Little League has agreed to pay for the completion of the 20’ fence at the RRAC. The remaining funding from the CIP was not discussed. John Sahi will present this at the next meeting. A list of RRAC installs in order of importance is as follows:
1. Electrical Service.
2. Well.
3. Drainage.
4. Grass for the remaining space.
5. Fencing to stop entrance to the field when not open.
6. Underground water lines for irrigation and general use.
7. Electrical and communications underground lines and boxes.
8. Fencing at the rear of the site.
B. Hall Pond will open as usual. John Sahi will be responsible for the opening date and work required to accomplish this.
FOOTNOTE: Greg Suchy spoke with the Mansfield Recreation Department in regards to basketball games between our towns in the upcoming season. Mansfield is open to this idea. It was also suggested that we discuss the possibility of open gym time at E.O. Smith with Howie Emon. Howie has arranged a scrimmage for September 2nd at the All Purpose Field at the RRAC for the upcoming football season.
VI. ADJOURNMENT:
Mike Harnad motioned to adjourn, which was seconded by Joseph Colangelo. The meeting adjourned at 8:04PM. The next meeting is scheduled for May 23rd, 2006 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall Office Building.
