Committee Minutes
Regular Meeting
August 24th, 2005

7:00 PM

Attending Members: Mike Harnad, Mike Pinatti, Joseph Colangelo, Ed Taiman, Greg Blessing, and Bob Portello.   John Sahi, Merit Knight, and Robin Knight were also in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM. (NOTE: This meeting was held at the RRAC site to review site work progress to date and work that can be done before winter.)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed.  Ed Taiman made a motion to approve the minutes, which was seconded by Joseph Colangelo.  All members were unanimous in approval.

GENERAL DISCUSSION:
It was estimated that 1000 cubic yards of topsoil are presently on site, and that approximately 350 cubic yards of sand would be needed to mix with the topsoil previous to placing the material.  The Knight’s suggested a ½” screening for topsoil in the baseball field, and 1” screening for the area outside the baseball field.
The Knight’s agreed that there was enough gravel on site for the completion of the project.  An additional day of crushing will be paid for by the WRC to allow for additional gravel to be stored on site for future projects.
Presently there is a large hole where the gravel material was taken from.  A motion was made by Greg Blessing that if the WRC had the appropriate funds in place, it would be advisable to have Knight Construction contract to fill in the “gravel hole”, and flatten the baseball field area to the approximate grade level.  This motion was seconded by Mike Harnad and agreed to unanimously by the attending members of the WRC.
It was suggested that if enough large boulders were available on site, that they be moved to a proper location along Route 32 to create a natural barrier on either side of the entry gate.  This would be to stop unwanted traffic during closed hours and the construction period.
The attending members of the WRC did a complete site “walk” and discussed items necessary for safety including fencing along the rear portion of the RRAC to keep people and balls away from the train tracks.  It was also evident that a drainage system was needed between the two sports fields.

DIRECTORS REPORT:
John Sahi reported that an upcoming football scrimmage would be held on the “all purpose” field.  It was also reported that the fertilizer purchased by the WRC earlier in the summer was presently being spread by the Public Works department on all sports fields in town.
