Town Offices, 40 Old Farms Road, Willington, Connecticut 06279  (860) 487-3108

Minutes from January 25, 2005 Meeting.

1.      Meeting called to order by Mike Harnad at 7:42 p.m.  In attendance:  Mike Pinatti, Mike Harnad, Ed Taiman, Steve Swart, Bob Portello.

2.      Minutes approved at 7:45 p.m.   No discussion of prior meeting minutes.

3.      General Discussion:  An electrical pole for the RRAC parking lot is needed to mount the necessary lighting.  CL&P supplied the commission with a quote of $136.00 a month charge for the use of the lights with a service contract.   A motion by Ed was made to install the light for now until the complex is closer to completion and solicit further information on actual costs by the power company.  All members were in favor.

4.      RRAC Signage:  All attending members were to determine a date in which to assess a location for the sign to be placed.  It was determined to wait until the snow at the site was at a lesser amount to determine the optimal location.  John Sahi is going to obtain the necessary permit for the installation of the sign.

5.      The commission will place the 2004 Review of Programs on the February meeting agenda.  At that time the committee will assess current programs and plan for new items in 2005.

6.      Basketball Referee pay.  Ed Taiman motioned to increase pay for basketball referees. The committee unanimously voted to increase the current amount per game.   John Sahi is researching the cost for purchasing shirts for rec basketball locally in lieu of the current supplier.  Costs would be dramatically less and availability would be more immediate to the start of rec basketball.   The committee also discussed the playoff schedule for rec basketball and determined that all boys/girls playoffs would conclude before the winter recess.  John Sahi is finalizing that schedule.  Ed Taiman motioned to discuss accommodations for rescheduling games due to inclement weather for next year. That will be discussed at a later meeting.

7.      Baseball Clinic.  The Willington Rec/Willington Little League baseball clinic is scheduled to start Saturday of March 5th and run for the following 5 Saturdays to conclude April 9th.  Fees for this clinic will be the same as last year.

8.      General Discussion:  John Sahi has a resident looking to start an after school dance club at Hall School.  John will be getting a proposal from that resident on what this involves and the committee will meet at a later date to discuss this potential new offering.

Motion to adjourn at 8:01 p.m. by Mike Harnad.  Seconded by all.
