Special Meeting
May 11th, 2004
7:00 PM
Attending Members: Joseph Colangelo, Ed Taiman, Mike Harnad, Steve Swart, Bob Portello and Greg Blessing. Howie Emonds was also in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM.
ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION COST-RIVER ROAD FIELDS:
Existing pole lighting located at the North Haven High School former athletic field was offered to the Willington Recreation Commission for use at River Road. The commission can have the lighting if the WRC can arrange for removal of the equipment. It is estimated that $6,000.00 would cover the cost of removal and relocation to the River Road facility. A motion was made by Joseph Colangelo for the WRC to provide the funding in a “not to exceed” amount of $6,000.00. This was seconded by Ed Taiman and agreed upon by the remaining WRC members. The funding would come from the WRC budget.
FLAG FOOTBALL: The following terms were agreed to for Flag Football 2004;
Provide sign up sheets to local schools prior to summer vacation.
First regulation game is 9/11/04.
Last regulation game is 11/13/04.
Practice to start no later than 8/21/04.
Clinic to be held 8/28/04.
Registration is open 5/24/04, closed 8/6/04.
Registration is open to all local towns, including but not limited to Tolland, Stafford, Ashford, Union, Columbia, Mansfield, Coventry and Bolton.
Registration forms will be offered at these schools with the permission of the appropriate BOE and recreation staff.
A non-NFL High School age program will be offered.
John Sahi will register our league immediately with the NFL.
A sign up sheet and informative display will be included at the WRC booth on Willington Day.
Informational literature will be posted at the Hall School Library with sign up sheets.
ADJOURMENT:
There was a motion made by Joseph Colangelo to adjourn, which Ed Taiman seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45PM.The next regular WRC meeting was scheduled for May 25,2004 at 7:00PM.
