Committee Minutes
Special Meeting – held at RRAC
April 25th, 2016
Attending Members: Joe Colangelo, Mike Pinatti, Ed Taiman, and Chelsea Bellefleur were in attendance.
Attending Non-Members: Maureen Parsell was in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 6:35 PM.
Minutes from 11/19/15, 12/7/15 and 1/25/16 have not been approved thus far and will be discussed at the following meeting. Minutes from 3/28/16 meeting were approved by Joe Colangelo and seconded by Ed Taiman.
No general discussion at this time.
- Fencing ends 5/28/16 for the summer.
- Men’s Basketball ends 6/26/16 for the season.
- Boating course on 4/30/16 has only 3 people signed up; need a minimum of 8 people.
- Golf Lessons in May has only 2 people signed up.
- All 4 lifeguards will be returning from last season at Hall’s Pond. Will be opening for full season on 6/10/16
- Last day of school party will be held at Hall’s Pond on 6/10/16. PTA will be coming down to volunteer. Chelsea Bellefleur also offered to volunteer.
- April camp was held at the Willington Firehouse with Youth and Family Services. They had a successful turnout.
- Basketball summer program: open gym during the month of July, instructional clinic and 3 on 3 tournaments are tentatively planned. Jacob Hall is assisting in this development.
- Annual report was not passed, but rather tabled. WPR was labeled “no reported submitted,” and a current one must be submitted. Joe Colangelo will put together the report for fiscal year 2014 – 2015 and will be submitting it. scheduled for 4/30/16, no one has signed up as of now.
Boston bus trip on 4/23/16 had 25 people attend – Revenue $5.00.
Newport bus trip on 5/21/16 only has 2 people signed up. This trip was cancelled.
There are no people signed up for the Red Sox bus trip on 6/19/16.
- There are 6 people signed up for James Taylor on 7/4/16.
- Trash receptacles require installation at RRAC field.
- Electricity needs to be hardwired in snack shed. Labor will be provided by Joe Colangelo.
- Field fencing at TOB are curling up instead of going into ground – need repair.
- Exercise equipment needs to be selected, purchased and installed for the walking trail at RRAC.
- Maureen Parsell walked the RRAC field with Derek Dimmock, WPW:
- A post in the playscape at RRAC needed to be screwed in and has been fixed.
- Damage to benches at RRAC has been addressed to Belson Outdoors; will be responding about repair kit.
- Garbage cans are overfilling quickly – possibly add more pick up times.
- After inspecting the RRAC field during the meeting, some items need to be addressed:
- Bathrooms need to be relocated with a stone base; location agreed upon.
- Installing an awning on the snack shed and stone pad in front of shed by little league need to be installed.
- Laminated signs for responsibilities for those that will be using the snack shed were discussed.
- There is mold growing on the underside of the pavilion; wood needs to be either power washed or stained.
- Discussion of painting the scoreboard poles by little league in near future.
- Utility box needs to be filled in and cover needs to be replaced.
- Backstop needs to be repaired or replaced; torn netting allows balls to exit towards the train tracks.
- Stone needs to be spread under bleacher to prevent grass from growing –asking little league to help with that.
- Pitchers’ mound needs to be compacted.
- Discussion of usage of empty space of field took place: swings, skate park and/or building for indoor soccer.
Ed Taiman motioned to adjourn, which was seconded by Joe Colangelo. The meeting adjourned at 7:55 PM. The next meeting is scheduled for May 23rd, 2016 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall Office Building.
