Library Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
January 13, 2009
Present: Suzanne Chapman, Dorothy Drobney, Roby Passardi, Janice Boltseridge, Paula Enderle
Absent: Shirley Ernst, Nancy Bailey
Meeting called to order at 6:40pm
Approval of Minutes – tabled to next meeting
Treasurer’s Report – reviewed and discussed.
Communications – Copies of Kathy Blessings letter regarding budget dates and expectations handed out. The Library budget will be reviewed and discussed at the 2/26/09 Finance Board Meeting
Director’s Report – Diane Marques resigning due to health issues
The Friends bake sale brought in $445, plus $60 from T-shirt sales.
The Friends are selling cloth book/grocery bags for $2 each.
The Library will be exhibiting the artwork of Willington Seniors. The opening is January 16th and the exhibit will end on February 13th.
The lights for the flag pole were ordered but due to an error by the distributor, the lights are again delayed.
Pumpernickel Puppets will be a special event during February vacation
Nutmeg Book Club has been going well.
Old Business – revisions to the Volunteer policy, job description and volunteer information sheet were discussed. A motion to update the policy, description and information sheet was made by Suzanne Chapman and seconded by Dot Drobney. Motion carried.
New Business –
Budget – discussed, set workshop date of January 27th at 6:30pm
Policy revision – reviewed several policies for change
Mobile Book Proposal – Tabled
Staff Resignation – discussed staffing for scheduled programs. Diane Marques resignation was accepted with regret and with sincere thanks for everything she brought to the position.
Advertisements will go in the newspapers with a deadline of February 23rd for applications. Applicant packets will be put together for each board member to pick up the first week of March. Applicants will be discussed at the March 10th meeting.
Adjournment – Motion by Paula Enderle, second by Dot. Board adjourned at 8:45pm.
