APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Elizabeth Treiber motioned to approve the Budget meeting minutes from March 10, 2016 as amended, Robert Wiecenski seconded. All were in favor, motion carried. Peter Tanaka abstained.
Page 2, under Old Town Hall Electrical and Restoration Project, end of 3rd line should read: For a total of $13,500.
PRESENT TO SPEAK
1st Selectman Mailhos voiced her concern about the public knowing when we would talk about Board of Education.
Melissa McKinnen, 15 Williams Road also voiced her concern of not known when we would be having Board of Education discussions.
Carrie-Anne Kelly, Blair Road, said that we have made a huge mistake not supporting the Board of Education budget. She said that she will be starting a parent advocacy group.
Tracy Anderson, 151 Willington Hill Road asked that we send the budget to referendum so the public can make the decision.

John Patton stated that there has always been credibility between the Board of Education and the Board of Finance. He heard that the was a plan by the Board of Education members to increase the budget so that it can be cut to get back to what they want. He hopes that the Board of Education doesn't pad the budget just to get what they want.
NEW BUSINESS
WYFSS - Assistant Position Funding
Jenny Arpin was present to discuss about her fund balance. Her department is highly reliant on state funding. She needs a cushion in case she doesn't get it. There is an increase in Dial-a-ride and she is going to see what other alternatives there are.

Motion to accept the budget request for the #0111 Selectmen Budget for $151,859 was made by Peter Tanaka and seconded by Elizabeth Treiber. Motion carried.
Motion to accept the budget request for #0121 Probate Court of $3,404 was made by Peter Tanaka and seconded by Elizabeth Treiber. Motion carried.
Motion to accept the budget request for #0126 Election Officials of $34,029 was made by Peter Tanaka and seconded by Elizabeth Treiber. Motion carried.
Motion to accept the budget request for the #0130 Accounting Services for $200,092 was made by Peter Tanaka and seconded by Elizabeth Treiber. Motion carried.
Motion to accept the budget request for #0131 Board of Finance of $4,544 was made by Peter Tanaka and seconded by Elizabeth Treiber. Motion carried.
Motion to accept the budget request for #0132 Treasurer of $31,294 was made by Peter Tanaka and seconded by Elizabeth Treiber. Motion carried.

Motion to accept the budget request for the Board of Education for $8,055,669 was made by Elizabeth Treiber and seconded by Barry Wallett. Motion carried.
1st Selectman Mailhos informed the Board that there should be $50,000 coming back this year from the snow budget and $20,000 from the Transfer Station.
Letter Concerning P&Z Assistant
A letter concerning the P&Z Assistant was distributed to the Board members for their approval. All were in favor of sending the letter out.

GOOD & WELFARE
Chairman Bulick thanked the town departments, boards, and commissions for the hard work and difficult choices made in preparing their budgets. He also thanked the townspeople who came to our meeting to offer their thoughts on the budget.
We would like to let the Public know that the budget notice will be published in the Chronicle this year. We have also attached a copy and a pie chart showing what makes up the budget.
