Vice-Chairman Patton called the meeting to order at 7:03 P.M.

PRESENT TO SPEAK – no one


APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion to approve the Budget Hearing Meeting Minutes and the Meeting Following the Public Hearing Minutes of 4/08/14 was made by Peter Latincsics, Jim Bulick seconded.  All were in favor, motion carried.  Robert Wiecenski abstained.

NEW BUSINESS

Suspense List

Carol Larson present the Board with the Suspense request for the 13/14 fiscal year.  Discussion followed.  Questions were asked about the number of Cadlerock Properties. Carol informed the Board that it we tried a tax sale and we had no takers.  

John Patton motioned approve the transfer of uncollected property taxes to the suspense book per State Statute 12-165 per the list submitted on May 15, 2014 for the grand total amount of $43,683.95.  Robert Wiecenski seconded.  All were in favor, motion carried.

Apply General Fund

Jim Bulick motioned to apply $210,000 from the General Fund Balance to the Mil rate for Fiscal Year 2014/2015.  Robert Wiecenski seconded.   All were in favor, motion carried.Board of Finance                                            -2-                                        May 15, 2014

Set the Mil Rate

Jim Bulick motioned to set the Mil Rate based on the passage of the budget at 27.34.  Robert Wiecenski seconded.  All were in favor, motion carried.

Transfers

Donna Latincsics present the Board with the transfer request.  Discussion followed.

Jim Bulick motioned that the Board of Finance authorizes the transfer of funds as follows:

$     250 to line item 0111 Selectmen
$  2,000 to line item 0141 Town Counsel
$  5,300 to line Item 0821 Unemployment
$  8,000 to line item 0351 Trash Removal
$  5,063 to line item 0831 Employee Insurances
$     250 to line item 0231 Fire Marshal Expense

$     800 from line item 0131 Board of Finance
$14,000 from line item 0183 Consulting Engineers
$  4,688 from line item 0851 Insurance
$  1,375 from line item 0126 Election Officials

Peter Latincsics seconded.  All were in favor, motion carried.

GOOD & WELFARE

First Selectman Mailhos feels that there was a lot of chatter about the low outcome at the budget referendum.  It was average but unfortunate that more people don’t take the time to vote or understand more about the budget.
