SPECIAL BUDGET MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, February 18, 2010

Chairman Schoppmann called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

PRESENT TO SPEAK – no one


APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion to approve the minutes of the February 11, 2010 Special Budget Meeting was made by Ann Marie Brown with the following amendments.  Chopeta Lyons seconded.  

        Page 2 – The request from Chairman Schoppmann should include:  the list of apparatus they       have, the age, the number of calls it goes out on, and what the primary use of each piece of    equipment is.  

        Clarification - The 10 year budget projection was just for the Emergency Service Funds.

        Page 2 – Under Emergency Management Director – should read:  His request is for $7,000…

        Page 2 – Under Willington Hill, 3rd line, should read:  federal grant that requires them to …

NEW BUSINESS

General Government Budget Request

        1st Selectman Mailhos presented the General Government Budget Request.  The request is for      $2,737,737 which is the same as was requested last year. She reviewed line items for the Board.         Discussion followed.

        She also supplied the Board with a Public Works Proposed Work Plan for the 2010-2011 budget     year.  Discussion followed.  

        Chairman Schoppmann asked that there are some items that could be looked at again for cost      savings.  i.e. vehicle maintenance could be lowered if new vehicles are purchased.

Letter from Stephanie Summers concerning the Library.


GOOD & WELFARE

Our next meeting will be next Thursday, February 25th with the Special Revenue Funds presenting their budgets.
