BUDGET MEETING MINUTES

Chairman Brown called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion to approve the Budget Meeting minutes of February 22, 2007 as amended, was made by Kathy Blessing. Jim Harvey seconded. All were in favor, motion carried.
Under also present, it should read Judith Anderson, Registrar.
Page 2 under Treasurer the motion should read:
Kathy Blessing motioned to decrease line #0132-127 Deputy Treasurer by $2,000 to $500. Jim Harvey seconded. All were in favor, motion carried.
Page 2 under Planning and Zoning, 2nd line in the 2nd paragraph it should read:

Budget Request – Board of Education
Board of Finance -2- March 1, 2007
NEW BUSINESS
Connie Berglund, Superintendent, School Administrators, as well as members of the Board of Education were present to review their budget request. The total request is for $7,353,601. This represents an overall increase of 5.67% or $394,391.
Elizabeth Marco arrived at 7:40.
Questions were asked from the Board. Kathy Blessing asked about the Tech Ed position that was brought to our attention by Geoff Prusak at a prior meeting. Superintendent Berglund said that a full time Tech Ed person is not needed and that they were having difficulty in filling the position.
Ken Schoppmann asked how much un-funded mandates cost the Town. Connie Berglund said they could look into that.
The Board agreed that they felt that the Board of Education budget could be cut back between $200,000 and $150,000. Kathy Blessing suggested that they prepare for at least a $150,000 cut. The Budget will be discussed in two weeks.

The next budget meeting will be with the General Government and Special Revenue Funds on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 7:00 pm.
