Economic Development Commission Meeting
Meeting Minutes of
February 25, 2013

Opened Meeting at 6:02 PM
Approval of Minutes:
Kim moved to approve the meeting minutes from February 4, 2012. Jackie seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Old Business:
- Business Directory – 2873 copies of the directory were mailed. Several email messages were received from recipients of the Directory. Kim will explore publishing a current business listing on-line. One suggestion was to include the year on the cover of the next directory when it is published.
- Love’s Travel Center, Dunkin Donuts and Beni’s (old Teggiano’s) update – Nothing new to report
- Business Feature on Website and new email address –A suggestion was made to advertise the EDC website in the Willington Word in February, May, August, and November. It was also suggested that we discuss having all email messages received at the new EDC email address forwarded to each EDC member. Tom B. will discuss this with Tish.
- EDC Finances – The mailing / distribution costs for the Directory will be supported by the general fund.
- Business Networking Meeting – The next Business Networking Meeting is scheduled for March 19, 2013, and will be held in the Community Room of the Library starting at 6:30 PM.
Jackie will update the flyer and sign-in list. Copies of the flyer will be provided for distribution. All members to meet at the Library at 5:15pm to set-up.
New Business:
- Marketing & Promotion – Tabled for next meeting.
- New Business Activity and Contacts:
- “Zombie Run” - The meeting to discuss the “Zombie Run” was rescheduled for 2/26/13 with reps from P&Z, EDC, and Fire Departments to discuss logistics, parking, etc.
- Election of Officers – Chairperson position will remain as Kim Kowalyshyn; Secretary position will remain as Tom Trieber.
- Annual Report – Kim will update annual report for EDC.
- 2013-2014 Budget – A zero-based budget strategy was used to develop the 2013-2014 EDC budget. Results to be presented to the BOF on march 7, 2013 are as follows:
- Continuing Education: $425
- Memberships: $100
- Business Networking Meeting: $200
- Materials & Supplies for Process Review: $100
- Welcome Baskets: $ 75
TOTAL: $900
- Correspondence – Emails regarding the new Directory were discussed.

- Commission Vacancies - We have a full seat and two alternate seats open.
Meeting adjourned at 8:29PM. Next meeting to be held on Monday March 25, 2013 at
6:00 PM.
