Approval of Minutes:
Kim moved to approve the meeting minutes from December 17, 2012. Jackie seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Old Business:
- Business Directory – Kim reviewed cost of distribution. Consideration was given to mailing versus distribution through the Reminder. Despite the higher cost, all felt it would be best to mail. Kim arranged to have all materials available and we would meet on 2/6 to insert letter, stuff envelopes, and seal. Joe Varholy offered to assist in getting finished directories to distribution points on 2/7.
- Love’s Travel Center, Dunkin Donuts and Beni’s (old Teggiano’s) update – Nothing new to report
- Business Feature on Website and new email address –Tom B. will be checking new email address – edc@willingtonct.org, on weekly basis.
- EDC Finances – The mailing/distribution costs for the directory resulted in a total deficit of $537.00 to the EDC budget. Members of the EDC agreed to personally share the cost of this shortfall. Kim will contact the BOF to find out how the process of personal contributions will work for this application.
- Business Networking Meeting – The next Business Networking Meeting was rescheduled from January 22, 2013 to March 19, 2013, and will be held in the Community Room of the Library starting at 6:00 PM. The agenda was reinvented, and Jackie’s PowerPoint presentation will be tabled for an alternate showing.
Jackie coordinated and secured two speakers from the Marketing and Small Business Lending Department of the Savings Institute Bank and Trust. The speakers will present a brief program titled, “How to market your business”. Multiple methods for advertising/communicating the Business Networking Meeting to the public include: 1) reference in the letter distributed with the Business Directory; 2) posting flyers strategically around town; 3) E-Blast and Email w/o 2/29/13 and 3/12/13; 4) submit event for Calendar in Journal Inquirer; and 5) include event in Willington Word.
New Business:
- Marketing & Promotion – Tabled for next meeting.
- New Business Activity and Contacts – Ray Crossen expressed interest in hosting a “Zombie Run” July 2013. A meeting is scheduled for 2/12/13 with reps from P&Z, EDC, and Fire Departments to discuss logistics, parking, etc.
- Correspondence – Received billing for membership renewal in the Tolland County Chamber of Commerce.

- Commission Vacancies - We have a full seat and two alternate seats open.

6:00 PM.
