Meeting Minutes of
November 26, 2012

Opened Meeting at 6:06 PM
Approval of Minutes:
Tom B. moved to approve the meeting minutes from October 22, 2012. Kim seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Old Business:
- Business Directory – Kim reported that the expense associated with distributing 3000 Business Directories would be about $800 - addressed envelopes ($250) and postage ($540). Some of this cost will be defrayed by incoming advertisement revenue. It was decided that the EDC would cover the shortfall from our budget and seek reimbursement from the Board of Finance, as this expense was not anticipated when we submitted our budget request.
Since the last meeting, EDC members obtained missing data (e.g. phone numbers) for businesses that had not completed fact sheets and edited copies of the draft Business Directory. We spent several hours discussing our findings, going over the draft Directory line by line and making changes to business classifications. Kim will submit the changes to Anything Printed.
- Love’s Travel Center, Dunkin Donuts and Beni’s (old Teggiano’s) update – Tom T. reported that he had visited Beni’s in Vernon, met with the owner and learned that he hoped to have the Willington location open by April 2013.
- Business Feature on Website – Kim discussed the improvements made to our Website by the Town’s Webmaster. Our thanks to Tish Ignatowicz.
- EDC Finances – Our $900 budget is still in tact.
- Business Networking Meeting – Nothing new to report. The event will be held in the Community Room of the Library on Tuesday January 22, 2013 starting at 6:00 PM with Thursday January 24, 2013 as a snow date.
- Ashford Business Association (ABA) – We discussed the fact that the ABA representative could not arrange to meet with us even on dates that he had selected. We will ask attendees at the Networking Meeting scheduled for January 22. 2013 if there is interest in starting a Willington Business Association.
New Business:
- 2013 Meeting Date - We approved the proposed meeting dates for 2013.
- Walter Parsell’s Resignation – Tom T. will prepare a letter to Walt thanking him for his contributions.
- New Business Activity and Contacts – None.
- Delegation of EDC Projects - Tom B. agreed to assume responsibility for the review of emails sent to EDC and to advise members of correspondence that is of interest or importance. He will also arrange for a change to the EDC email address that would standardize it with other Town email addresses (e.g. edc@willingtonct.org).
- Correspondence – Kim advised that the Town of Willington Holiday Open House would be held at Willington Pizza on December 5, 2012 from 4:30 PM until 7:30 PM. The charge of $10 per person includes a full buffet, beverages and gratuity. Spouses and guests are invited. RSVP to the Selectmen’s Office 860.487.3100 or rcampbell@willingtonct.org by Monday December 3. Checks should be made payable to the Town of Willington.
Public Comment:
- First Selectman Christina Mailhos, and Assessor Mary Huda, Assessor participated in part of the meeting.
Ongoing Activities:
- We have a full seat and two alternate seats open.

6:00 PM.
