WILLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING
8/23/16 Meeting
1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order @ 7:10 pm. Members present: K. Demers, M. Drobney, C. Jordan, M. Schreiber, R. Shabot
2. Timber thinning at Fenton- Ruby Parks-Bid Discussion
The results of the “Request for Proposal” for the Timber Harvest on MU-8 @ FRP-DS at Burma Rd (Fenton-Ruby Park) (Map 31 Lot 8 Zone R80) were presented. Three bids were received as follows.
Brad Cordtsen, Ellington, CT : $6,667
Hull Forest Products, Pomfret, CT: $5,200
Perma Treat Corporation, Durham, CT: $4,500
On a motion by RS/MD: The WCC recommends the Willington Board of Selectman award the Fenton-Ruby Park timber harvest contract to Brad Cordtsen, Ellington, CT. Unanimous vote.
3. Plan September education program on forest management and timber thinning.
On a motion by CJ/RS: WCC will expend $315.00 from the operating budget to pay Eric Hansen, forester from Ferruci and Walicki, LLC to provide a public education program in September at Fenton-Ruby Park, related to forest management and the natural resource benefits of timber thinning. Unanimous vote.
4. Daley Award: There was discussion on awarding a Daley Award for 2016.
5. Adjournment Meeting adjourned @ 8:21 pm on a motion by RS/MD. Next regular meeting is Wednesday, 9/21/16 @ 7:00 pm.
