                   WILLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING
         7/16/2014 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order @ 7:20 pm.
Roll Call:  K. Demers, C. Jordan, R. Shabot, J. Cartabiano (seated for P. Andersen).
Approval of Minutes of 6/18/14: Minutes were approved on a motion by RS/CJ 3 ayes, one abstention.  
Present to Speak:  None
Finance: 2013-2014 expenses were $755, leaving an unexpended balance of $745.  No expenses for current year to date.
Old Business
A.  Properties Management
FRP-DS: CJ presented a list of suggested maintenance projects to prepare for the revised Taylor Pond Trail brochure, which was printed by Anything Printed at a favorable price.  RS and MD will work on replacement of number posts.  Nicole Lamont has volunteered to be trail steward.
Knowlton Preserve/Talmadge Tract: No progress on bridge or parking lot projects.  Margaret Gankofskie has agreed to be steward for the trail system.
Wilford Farms Timber Mangement:  PZC consensus at its June meeting was that there be no activity in the easement area.  PZC may revisit and conduct a site walk while the rest of the property is being harvested.
B.  Town Development: PZC; IWWC; ZBA:  Love’s Travel Stop received ZBA approval for site suitability.  On a motion by CJ/RS “The Conservation Commission authorizes the Chair or Vice-Chair of the Conservation Commission to give written or oral comments at any future hearings on the Love Travel Stop proposal consistent with language and content previously approved by the CC.”
C.  Collaborative Organizations:
Willimantic River Alliance: No report.
Joshua’s Trust: No report.
Windham County Conservation Consortium: No Report
D.  Open Space Map Updating:  Mike Cipriano of WINCOG printed 12 letter sized and 3 large “Committed Open Space – October 1, 2013”maps, one of which has been hung in the meeting room.  Supporting list of open space parcels will be completed soon.
E.  Levesque Farm:  No report.
New Business
A.  Communications: A representative from Willington is being sought to serve on the Water Systems Advisory Committee for the project for the Connecticut Water Company to extend water from Tolland to Mansfield.
B.  Other:  There was discussion of possible CC sponsorship of an event focusing on local agriculture to include a film, booths, etc.
