WILLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING
4/17/2013 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order @ 7:40 pm.
Roll Call: P. Andersen, K. Demers, M. Schreiber, R. Shabot
Approval of Minutes of 3/20/13 & 4/10/13: Minutes of both meetings were approved on motions by KD/PA: 4 ayes for both motions.
Present to Speak: No one was present to speak.
Finance: On a motion by RS/KD: The WCC approves the purchase of a sign to be purchased from Signs of All Kinds and to not exceed $175.00. The sign is for the Royal Knowlton Preserve for the Marsh Road entrance. Unanimous vote.
On a motion by KD/RS: The WCC approves the purchase of up to $300.00 for lumber and associated hardware for completing FRP-DS bridge repairs.
Old Business
A. Properties Management
FRP-DS: A work day took place on 3/30. New bridges were installed. Another work day is scheduled for 4/28/13 @ 9am to control barberry growth and more bridge repair.
Canines off leash: Tabled
New Trail Guide: Tabled
Knowlton Preserve/Talmadge Tract: Loop Trail: The signs for the trail are ready to install The Map & Trail Guide is completed.
B. Town Development: PZC;IWWC
Ridgeview Subdivision: No update.
Love’s Travel Stop: WCC members attended the public hearing on 4/16. The next hearing date is 5/7/13 @ 7:30 in the Willington Public Library.
Dunkin Donuts: No update
Cell Tower: No update
C. Collaborative Organizations:
Willimantic River Alliance: No report
Joshua’s Trust: No report
Windham County Conservation Consortium: No Report
D. Programs: There are no programs planned.
E Protocol for donations to the Open Space Account. CJ will continue with her research on this topic.
New Business
A. Communications. Tabled
B. Other: IWCC’s regulations may not include current practices and the latest guidelines on the topic. It was suggested that this matter be addressed by corresponding with IWWC.
