9/28/10 Meeting Minutes
Call to order:~ P. Andersen called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM.
Present:~ P. Andersen, E. Brand, K. Demers, M. Drobney, C. Jordan, M. Schreiber.
E. Brand was present at the meeting and was not formally seated.
Approval of 8/24/2010 minutes: Approval of minutes on a motion by KD/MD.
2 abstentions: P.A., C.J. 3 ayes.
Present to speak: NA.
Finance: On a motion by PA/KD: “WCC approves the CIP Program request form and cover letter as prepared by C. Jordan.” Unanimous
Old Business
FRP-DS:
- Trails Report: Bridge/trail lumber is being hauled to the proposed work sites. R. Bloom, and M. Drobney are active in this project.
- Canine Control: MS contacted the Recreation Commission to gauge interest in joint purchase of signs for leasing your dog.
Town Development: Application for construction of a travel stop at 3 Polster Road by applicant Loves Travel Stop and Country Store Inc. was denied on 8/31/2010.
Open Space /Easement Monitoring
- James Poole, steward of the Willington Heights opens space parcel will use the information provided in the Site Inspection Report submitted by John S. Barclay to the WCC for management at the site.
- Peck’s Mill: tabled.
- Roaring Brook Area: tabled
Programs: Park Day/ Daley Award date is 10/16. On a motion by CJ/MD: “WCC authorizes payment of invoice to Elite Engraving and Awards for the 2010 Daley Award plaque.” So moved. 5 ayes. The next Star Party dates are 10/29, 10/30 & 11/06 (7:00 – 9:00 pm.).
Collaborative Organizations
- Willimantic River Alliance: tabled.
- Joshua’s Trust: No news.
- Windham County Conservation Consortium: Meeting date: 9/30/10.
Knowlton Purchase Update: A closing date for the purchase is being set by the attorneys.
Map Hangers Update: The new map hangers will be installed by 1/2011 based on parcel information accurate to 12/31/2010.
New Business
Communications Incoming bulletins and correspondences were discussed.
Any members wishing to attend the 11/13/10 annual CAIWC conference should contact PA.
