7/27/10Meeting Minutes
Call to order:~ K. Demers called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM.
Present: E. Brand, K. Demers, C. Jordan, M. Schreiber, R. Shabot. E. Brand was seated for P. Andersen on a motion by CJ/KD
Approval of 6/22/2010 minutes: Unanimous approval of minutes on a motion by CJ/RS.
Present to speak: None
Finance: Balance for FY 09/10 is $150.00
Old Business
FRP-DS:
- Trails Report: Bridge/trail lumber can be hauled to the work sites at any time members have the time. R. Bloom has volunteered for this project.
- Canine Control: Signs. Discussion on purchase of canine control signs was tabled. MS will contact Recreation Commission to gauge interest on joint purchase of signs.
- Field Mowing Schedule: FRP fields were mowed prior to 7/15. The clause in the mowing contract which restricts mowing until after 7/15 was omitted this year. Wording will be relayed to the contractor for next year’s mowing schedule.
Town Development: No news.
Open Space /Easement Monitoring
- Willington Heights: John Barclay is still working on his report for this project.
- Peck’s Mill: No news.
- Roaring Brook Area: PA informed WCC that this area was in good repair on his last walk in the area
Programs: Park Day/ Daley Award date is 10/16. Programming ideas and award nominees were discussed. The next Star Party dates are 10/29, 10/30 & 11/06. This is a correction from previously reported dates.
Collaborative Organizations
- Willimantic River Alliance: No news
- Joshua’s Trust: No news
- Windham County Conservation Consortium: No news
Knowlton Purchase Update: The DEP has forwarded all materials to the Attorney General’s office.
Map Hangers Update: C Jordan will check on the details for hanging the maps in the meeting room from the new map hanging system
Willington Flea Market: There needs to be a designated member to handle set up/take down of the display otherwise there will not be a booth this year at the 9/11/10 event. .

Willington Word: K Demers will supply an article for the publication.
