6/22/10Meeting Minutes
Call to order:~ K. Demers called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
Present: E. Brand, K. Demers, M. Drobney, C. Jordan, M. Schreiber, R. Shabot. P. Andersen & P. Pribula were excused. E. Brand was seated for P. Pribula on a motion by CJ/RS.
Approval of 5/25/10 and 6/8/2010 minutes: Approval of minutes of 5/25/10 with abstentions by MS and RS. Approval of minutes of 6/8/10 is unanimous
Present to speak: None
Finance: Balance for FY 09/10 is $447.38
On a motion by CJ/MD the WCC approves a stipend of $125.00 for Barbara Austin’s 6/5 Nature Walk at FRP-DS. The WCC approves a payment of $100.00 to John Barclay for professional advice on the Willington Heights Open Space parcel located on Lohse Rd. Unanimous vote.
On a motion by MD/CJ the WCC authorizes the purchase of a computer external hard drive for WCC’s storage of maps and digital data. The purchase is not to exceed 240.00. Unanimous vote.
Old Business
FRP-DS:
- Trails Report: No news to report.
- Canine Control: Signs. Discussion on purchase of canine control signs was tabled.
Town Development: RS reported on the IWCC public hearing on application W2010-11: Application for construction of a Loves Travel Stop and Country Store.
Open Space /Easement Monitoring
- Willington Heights: P. Andersen, John Barclay and James Poole walked the parcel on 4/20/2010. (see Finance report) Mr. Barclay is willing to attend a WCC meeting to report on his findings.
- Peck’s Mill: No news.
Programs: Barbara Austin’s Nature walk at FRP-DS on 6/5/2010 was well received and attended. The next Star Party dates are 10/29 and 11/5.
Collaborative Organizations
- Willimantic River Alliance: No news
- Joshua’s Trust: No news
- Windham County Conservation Consortium: No news
- Knowlton Purchase Update: The DEP has forwarded all materials to the Attorney General’s office.
- Map Hangers Update: No news.
New Business
Communications: The First Selectman’s response letter from Charter Communication regarding their lighting system brightness and intensity on the power supply units located on poles throughout Willington was read.
Other: The revised “Talmadge Spur Trail and Nipmuck Trail and CFPA Loop Trail” map is now available.
