11/25/08 Meeting Minutes
Call to order:~ P. Andersen called the meeting to order at 7:08 PM.
Present: P. Andersen, M. Drobney, C. Jordan, M. Schreiber, R. Shabot. P. Pribula on a motion by KD /RS
Approval of 10/28/08 minutes: Motion: MD/RS minutes approved. PP abstained, 5 ayes.
Present to speak: NA
Treasurers Report: FY 08/09 balance is $1832.51. Motion: RS/CJ, PA is reimbursed $50.00 for registration fee for the UConn Cooperative Extension Forestry Forest Forum (11/25/08) Unanimous.
Old Business
FRP-DS:
Trails Report: PA reblazed the Julia Trail. PA, Karl Acimovic, Lynne Nicholls held~an on-site review and discussion about WCC’s concerns with Burma Road on 11/17. An action plan is still being formulated.
Park Activities: A November/December tree identification program is tabled.
Willimantic River Alliance: ~No report.
Town Development: PZC is interested in input on the role of open space in the proposed PZC draft regulations. Attendance at the 12/9 meeting is under consideration
CC Website Development: LC is continuing with updating the website.
Open Space /Easement Monitoring: The Roaring Brook open space easement property had a cleanup on 11/23/08. More work is needed at the site.
Willimantic Greenway: Pecks Mill Site-Last Green Valley: Source to the Sea Expedition: The Roaring Brook site was selected as Willington’s contribution to the “Expedition.” The application deadline was met.
Talmadge Tract: The drafting of a Talmadge Tract park management plan is ongoing
Policies/Guidelines for Town Open Space Parcels:~ There was continued discussion on defining the term: committed open space and open space and the designation of activities that can occur on these parcels.
December Meeting Date: 12/16/2008 is the revised date for the December meeting.
2009 Calendar: The 4th Tuesday of each month is the meeting date for 2009.
2009 Officers WCC elected the following members as officers for 2009: Peter Andersen-Chair, Kathy Demers -Vice-Chair, Carol Jordan- Treasurer, and Marilyn Schreiber-Recording Secretary. Unanimous

New Business
Communications: Incoming mail was dispersed. ~
Other: Willington has been awarded $306,250 in 2008 DEP Open Space and Water Shed Acquisition Funding for the Knowlton parcel. This is a 49% match for the $625,000 needed to close on the property.
Adjournment: On a motion by RS/CJ meeting adjourned at 8:38. So moved.
