10/28/08 Meeting Minutes
Call to order:~ P. Andersen called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM.
Present: P. Andersen, L. Centola, K. Demers, M. Drobney, C. Jordan, M. Schreiber, R. Shabot. L. Centola is seated for P. Pribula on a motion by KD /RS
Approval of 9/23/08 minutes: Motion: KD/RS minutes approved. MD abstained, 6 ayes.
Present to speak: Jim Poole, steward of the Willington Heights subdivision open space parcel, will begin work on the tract per the approved proposal provided to WCC.
Treasurers Report: FY 08/09 balance is $1922.00. On a motion by PA/CJ the FRP-DS Park Day presenters, Dan Forrest and Brian Jones, speaking fees will be increased to $100.00 each. Unanimous vote. On a motion by KD/CJ P. Andersen will be reimbursed $40.00 for CACIWCC annual conference (11/4/08) fee. Unanimous
Old Business
FRP-DS:
Trails Report: There is a tree down on the White Trail. PA and Bob Bittner reblazed the Connector Trail. RS and PA are available to walk with Susan Yorgensen and Carl Acimov along Burma Road to discuss grading issues.
Park Activities: Chris Demers was the 2008 recipient of the Daly Award at the 10/18/08 Park Day. Dan Forrest and Brian Jones presented a well received walk and talk. A handout that was used during the walk will be incorporated onto WCC’s website and available at the park for public use. A November/December tree identification program is being considered.
Willimantic River Alliance: ~No report.
Town Development: PA, KD presented remarks at the 10/7/08 Public hearing for the new PZC regulations.
CC Website Development: LC gave update on web design progress. A training session on the new website template will take place 10/30. PA presented the revised Mission Statement that will be on the web page.
Open Space /Easement Monitoring: Tabled
Willimantic Greenway: Pecks Mill Site-Last Green Valley :Source to the Sea Expedition: There will be a site walk along the Roaring Brook at the bridge that spans Village Hill Rd on 11/2/04 @ 2pm. This site may be selected as Willington’s contribution to the “Expedition.” The application deadline is 11/7/08.
Talmadge Tract: The drafting of a Talmadge Tract park management plan is ongoing
Policies/Guidelines for Town Open Space Parcels:~ There was discussion on defining the term: committed open space and open space and the designation of activities that can occur on these parcels.
Other: The Depot Road parcel that abuts the Willimantic River at the bridge is on the real estate market again.

New Business
December meeting date The November Agenda will include an item concerning the need for a date change for the December meeting.
Communications: Incoming mail was dispersed. ~
Other: KD, RS, MS‘s terms on WCC will expire 12/2008. All expressed willingness to have their names resubmitted to the Board of Selectman for consideration.
Adjournment: On a motion by KD/CJ meeting adjourned at 9:10PM. So moved.
