BOARD OF SELECTMEN

First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L Nicholls and residents.

Public Works

The board signed bills and a vacation slip from Public Works.
 
Lynn reported that Lif- Tec repaired a new line on the Backhoe.  The part was sent overnight and the repair was quick.  Discussion was held on previous repairs and manufactures of parts.   Previously, Lynn asked for quotes on tires for the tractor.  Lynn received two quotes discussion was held on which kind of tire to use and the prices including scrap tire fee.  First Selectman Eldredge motioned to accept the Oasis tires which were the most cost effective at 1870.00.  Selectman John Patton and Selectman Jack Lewis agreed.

Lynn reported on Potter School Road/ Balazs Road the sight line is offset.  Karl and I agree that the best solution is to cut the brush back on the corner.  The homeowner will be notified but it is town property.

John Patton inquired about Tinkerville Road.  Lynn stated that the road closing is still scheduled for August 1st.  

Lynn stated that she calls weekly regarding the compactor and is still waiting for a return call.  John Patton is concerned as we are losing money every month.  First Selectman Eldredge will call Tim Devivo tomorrow a.m. to find out the status.

Discussion was held on Turnpike Road area resurfacing and drainage.  Selectman John Patton asked if we have plans for drainage?  Lynn responded not at this time.  A one on one is need to evaluate each area.  Drainage problems on Village Hill Road were discussed.  The main problem upon repair being we may run into ledge.  Selectman John Patton stated we will need a referendum for this work.  We need all information together for the Board of Finance.

Eldredge Mills Road Bus turnaround was brought into discussion as Selectman John Patton drove down looking for the turn around.  Selectman Jack Lewis is concerned about bus safety and the drop off.    The Second driveway should have been closed and the town will stake out the area again.

Selectman Jack Lewis is concerned with the use of the building at the transfer station.  Discussion followed as to the employee’s use of the building.  Discussion was held on Bulk Waste Cards and how often they are being monitored by the Transfer Station Personnel.  First Selectman Eldredge said he will find out what percentage of the loads are being checked.

First Selectman Eldredge made the motion to adjourn. At 6:24 p.m. Selectman John Patton seconded.
Vote: All yes (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS).
