Historical Commission
Meeting Minutes - October 12, 2006

Meeting Called to order at 4:15 p.m.
Neil Norum made a motion to accept the minutes, second by Barbara Deschenes. Unanimously voted.


Jacob Winn Barn
The construction of the barn is almost complete, it is hoped that it will be completed next week.  Tom Petty has to finish the roof and is making a 17-pane glass window to go above the door.  We are also waiting for hardware for the doors as well.


WPI
As of this date we have not received any reply from the students.  Neil will update us with further information


Library
May Cook books-
o       The commissioners would like to review the May Cook books currently being stored in the library
o       The commission will ask that the Historical Society purchase Microsoft Office 2003 Professional for the commissioners to use in archiving the files on computer.
o       A headset was purchased which will enable us to use the speech recognition application included in Microsoft Office 2003 Professional.  We will be able to sit and dictate the records directly into the computer.  Kim will assist the commissioners with the necessary training.


Demolition Delay
Barbara will review the bylaws received and make a recommendation.  She feels the bylaws submitted by Stockbridge are the most concise.


Afra Terrace
The commission received a 2nd letter from the Massachusetts Historical Commission regarding the Afra Terrace Development off of Shrewsbury Street.  The state would like an archeological survey done of the property to determine if any damage was done to the Native American occupation  sites on MHC #19 WR 185, Site MHC WR 274. Beverly will call the state to determine if it is the commissioners who initiate this survey or if it is the states who initiates it with the builder.

o       Nov 11- Small barn conference
o       Dec. 1 on Smart Growth Tool Kit put on by the DCR, Jessica Rowcroft Preservation Planner.
