Chair Justina Carlson called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.
WhiteWater Operations Report
Roy Maher presented the Water Operations Report of April 1, 2014.1 It included information on: the storage tank, new services to properties, meters, the annual WhiteWater report, and the pumping and usage figures for January and February. Justina Carlson asked about coordinating time schedules.
BWC Office Report
Coordinator Michaela Miteva gave the BWC Office Report of April 1, 2014. 2 She reported on: expenditures and revenues; new connections; the meter order; a nitrate map of Wellfleet; and a financial projection for the Water Enterprise Fund. The Board discussed the new nitrate map 3 that had been prepared for them by Eric Martinson. It was plotted based on data from the Barnstable County Water Lab and the Health Department. The Board grappled with remediation ideas for nitrate problems. Michaela Miteva found and copied an older, undated map4 of nitrate levels in Wellfleet. She produced a January 2014 nitrate report5 from the Board of Health which provided a comparison.
The Water Commissioners also discussed the fiscal projections which Miteva had prepared.
Expansion Update
The Board discussed the repair of the Chequessett Neck Road culvert. The Hiller Avenue extension has been approved, Michaela Miteva said. The Change Order was included in her office report.
Other Business
Bill Carlson said he was making plans to meet with Cape Cod National Seashore personnel about their water system. He also noted the recent Cape Cod Times article on 1,4 dioxide.
Minutes
Bill Carlson moved to approve the minutes of March 18, 2014. Justina Carlson seconded, and the motion carried 3-0.
