CWMPC meeting minutes 02/26/13
Approved

Comprehensive Wastewater Management Planning Committee
February 26, 2013, 2:30 pm, DPW Building
Members Present: Alex Hay, Ned Hitchcock, Curt Felix,
The meeting was called to order at 3:10 pm after Ned joined from a FEMA coastal flood map revision meeting in Chatham that redraws flood plain mapping.

NEW BUSINESS
1) Presentation by Anamarija Frankic and Chris McIntyre: Oyster Project Monitoring Results 2012 Season.
Anamarija reported tremendous progress at the oyster propagation site.  The population has doubled over last year, biodiversity has increased, mud levels are lower.  Survival, growth and oyster set have been excellent bringing the population density to around 1,000 oysters/m2 which in scientific terms is a highly successful level. Ulva (sea lettuce) which had covered the area last year was present in only small quantities this year, possibly due to lower nutrient levels, about which more evidence needs to be gathered.

There was a discussion about how often to sample next year, how to better quantify the biodiversity changes, especially animals that aren’t counted in a low tide inventory of stationary animals.  Recommendations will be forthcoming.

Ned reported that the new A and V zones delineation need to be explored re the Baker Field project.  Ned will follow up with Tim King, Harry Terkanian, Paul Gabriel and Joe Ducharme of Clivus.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:15.
Respectfully submitted,

Christine Bates, Committee Secretary
