Comprehensive Wastewater Management Planning Committee
February 12, 2013, 2:30 pm, DPW Building
Members Present: Ned Hitchcock, Pat Winslow, Curt Felix, Lezli Rowell, Paul Gabriel and Christine Bates, Committee Secretary. Ed Simpson and Janet Drohan also attended.
Curt Felix called the meeting to order at 2:35 pm. Anamarija Frankic and Chris McIntyre could not attend due to weather issues.
NEW BUSINESS
1) Review Baker Field Warrant Presentation. Curt Felix reviewed the presentation which will be presented to the Board of Selectmen. Felix will identify the partners involved in the Wastewater Planning Team. The committee edited the presentation.
2) Presentation by Anamarija Frankic and Chris McIntyre: Oyster Project Monitoring Results 2012 Season. Due to the weather conditions, Ms. Frankic will come to a future meeting.
3) Cape Cod Commission focus group and new planning effort. Curt Felix reported Cape Cod Commission has a $3 Million grant for wastewater planning for a Capewide Regional Plan. He and Ned Hitchcock will attend a meeting on February 13, 2013 to participate in the Commission’s effort to collect information from focus groups regarding watershed level wastewater planning. This would help identify how things will be done at the different locations and determine who will be in charge.
4) Review of Audubon Presentation by Dale Leavitt on Oysters as a nitrogen remediation tool. Curt Felix stated Dale Leavitt, who was a naysayer originally, determined by modeling and scientific studies that nitrogen removal by oysters is could provide substantial remediation in the harbor.
Curt Felix moved to adjourn at 4:20 pm; seconded by Ned Hitchcock; passed 4-0.
