Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Dale Donovan. Selectmen present included Michael May, Ira Wood, Helen Miranda Wilson and Jerry Houk. Town Administrator Tim Smith also attended.
Donovan noted that the purpose of this meeting is to review the process and questions to be addressed to the candidates for the position of Fire Chief.
The Board discussed interview questions drafted by a consultant and proposed by Board members. The Town Administrator recommended that the Board ask the same questions of all the candidates and suggested an additional question asking whether a candidate would like to tell the Board anything about themselves that was not discussed during the interview. There was consensus to ask the same questions of all the candidates; to add a question as suggested by the Town Administrator; to add a question regarding the candidates’ view of the Town’s union contract in place of question 5; to amend question 8 to include the issue of “harassment”; to hold other individual questions by Board members until a second interview and for Houk to ask questions 5 and 8 and for the Town Administrator to assign
the remaining questions to Board members. Other discussion included the rating scale and the process for reference checks.
Houk noted the passing of Jake Bruinooge.
On a motion by Wood, seconded by May, the Board voted unanimously at 7:33 p.m. on a roll call vote (Houk, Wilson, May, Wood, Donovan – yea) to enter executive session to discuss personnel matters and not to reconvene in open session.
