Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Chairman Dale Donovan. Selectmen present included Jerry Houk, Ira Wood, Michael May and Helen Miranda Wilson. Town Administrator Tim Smith also attended.
Donovan noted that a number of incidents are currently under investigation by the Police Department and read the following statement: “While we welcome the positive energy and life that our young people bring to the town and the central village, some recent incidents by a few of these young people should not be tolerated or repeated.” and moved “that we give our full encouragement and support to the Police Department for the strict performance of all appropriate bylaws regarding skateboarding and appropriate public behavior.” Houk seconded the motion. Police Chief Rosenthal indicated that he will take the recommendation of the Board seriously and will increase enforcement activity in the downtown area asking that Board members seek out both sides of the story should questions
arise. The Board voted unanimously in favor of the motion. Donovan thanked Houk for raising this issue. Houk left the meeting at 7:07 p.m. noting plans to celebrate his 41st wedding anniversary this evening.
The Town Administrator introduced the department heads in attendance.
Donovan turned the meeting over to Moderator Dan Silverman who outlined the ground rules for tonight’s Pre-Town Meeting asking that debate be saved for Town Meeting. The Moderator presided over the Pre-Town Meeting at which time budgets and Town Meeting articles were reviewed and discussed. Wilson recused herself from review of Article 17 regarding health insurance for Call Firefighters.
On a motion by May, seconded by Wood, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn at 9:28 p.m.
