Community Preservation Committee Minutes 09/26/2012
Community Preservation Committee
Minutes of Meeting September 26, 2012
Wellfleet Town Hall Hearing Room

Present: Peter Hall, Chair; Jan Plaue, Deirdre Poole, Janet Reinhart, Trudy Vermehren,
Regrets: John Ketchum, Gary Sorkin, Elaine McIlroy

CPC met in the Town Hall Parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and proceeded to a site visit at 2586 Route 6/State Highway.   There Sarah Korjeff, historic preservationist from the Cape Cod Commission, and Lydia Vivante of the Wellfleet Historical Commission gave a tour and answered questions about the house behind Cumberland Farms.

Upon return to Town Hall at 10:12 a.m., Peter Hall called the regular meeting to order.

Minutes of 7/25/12
Reinhart moved to approve the minutes of July 25, 2012. Plaue seconded, and the motion carried 4-0.

Future Application for 2586 Rte. 6
Reinhart moved to encourage an application for the old Libby house at 2586 Route 6.  Poole seconded. Committee members discussed the potential of a project for 2586 Route 6.  The $700,000 estimate seemed low for what would have to be done to move the building and create three or four affordable units, including a handicap accessible unit.  There would have to be some significant funding from other sources first, CPC members said. The motion failed 2-3.

Chair Peter Hall will notify the Historical Commission that first they would have to address substantial additional funding needs, and an application will have to show financial reasons for wanting to proceed.

CPC Legislation/Webinar Reports
Mary Rogers, Jan Plaue and Peter Hall had taken the Webinars offered by the Community Preservation Coalition.  All three reported favorably on the informative presentations.  Plaue remarked on the regionalization of projects.

Planning for Annual Needs Hearing
Mary Rogers will get the Recreational Needs as the focus of the annual public hearing on Needs.

Mail
Kopelman & Paige had sent an update on the changes to CPA legislation.*

Agenda for Next Meeting
Agenda for the October 24, 2012 meeting will include:  Needs, Project Updates, Minutes and Mail.

Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned by consensus at 10:45 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,
