Minutes of Meeting January 26, 2011

Present: Terry Gips, John Ketchum, Robert McCaffery, Elaine McIlroy, Jan Plaue, Janet Reinhart, Marcia Seeler, Judy Taylor, Deirdre Poole

Vice-Chair Judy Taylor called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
Minutes of 12/1/10
Ketchum moved to approve the minutes of December 1, 2010.  McIlroy seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
Application #11-02  Recreation
Recreation Director Becky Rosenberg came forward to give the schematic cost estimate1 for the Community Health, Fitness and Recreation Area (CHFRA), Application #11-02. 2   She said that Recreation was working on securing other sources of funding and answered CPC questions on size, bonding, and bidding for the project. Town Administrator Paul Sieloff submitted a memo3 and offered information on maintenance plans and costs for the track.  Marcia Seeler recommended postponing the project until the maintenance plans are in place.  Paul Sieloff recommended having DPW Director Mark Vincent meet with CPC.  The Committee discussed forwarding the project to Annual Town Meeting.  Ketchum suggested forwarding the application, subject to getting more information from DPW, inclusion of “in kind” contribution of services and fund raising.  Ketchum suggested that a supply shed be included in the plan.  CPC wanted to know what additional sources of funding were anticipated.  There was discussion of setting conditions for going ahead with the project. CPC decided to hold a meeting in two weeks on February 9, 2011, to answer the maintenance costs, in kind contributions and funding questions.  Also a shed estimate will have to be included in the application.  
Historic Review Board Proposal on Modernist Houses
Olga Kahn of the Historic Review Board had sent a proposal for CPC funds for historic designation of Modernist Houses4 that will be considered at the next regular meeting.
Agenda for Next Meeting
Recreation will return to the February 9, 2011 meeting for Application #11-02.

Seeler moved to adjourn.  Gips seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 a.m.
