Natural Resources Advisory Board  Minutes
May 23 2011
Attending: John Riehl, Ned Hitchcock, John Duane
Meeting called to order 7:05pm
Ø       Meeting discussed whether NRAB should take over the responsibility for coastal & pond access issues. The suggestion was first raised by John DiBlasio who was concerned that the Coastal&Ponds Access Committee was not functioning. The suggestion was seconded by Paul Sieloff at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting on 3/22/2011. In discussion, it was noted that NRAB often dealt indirectly with access issues in both the HMP & PMP. Also, there is a window of opportunity at the moment as NRAB is between the PMP and a third HMP.
o       Meeting voted 3-0 to recommend to the Board of Selectmen that NRAB accept responsibility for coastal and pond access issues. Chair was authorized to inform the Board by letter (see attached) and in open meeting.
Ø       Mayo Creek. There will be a public meeting on June 1 at which the WHG will present the hydrology modeling. This shows that 20 acres of restoration is possible simply by removing the duckbill. No upland properties would be flooded. Ground water issues – septics & wells – remain a concern.
Ø       PMP. No news to report. Committee agreed to meet with Beach Administrator in the fall.
Ø       Meeting adjourned 8.25 pm.
Approved:       September 26 2011                                       Signed: John Riehl, Chair
