Agenda Item |
Summary |

Minutes from September |
The minutes from September were approved as written. (There were no minutes from October as a quorum was not present to conduct business.) |
Correspondence |

NHACC Annual Meeting
|
Mary Jo reported on the annual meeting of the NH Association of Conservation Commissions held in Concord on November 7. The featured speaker was Agricultural Commissioner Lorraine Stuart Merrill, and NH agriculture was the theme of many of the workshops. MJ attended sessions on map making, developing a wildlife action plan, and invasive species (both insects and plants). Nancy Clark suggested that we sponsor a plant identification walk, perhaps led by WCC member Jane Difley, President of the Forest Society. |
Trumbull Pond Project
|
Betsy made a motion, seconded by Nancy C., that the WCC officially donate $15,000 to the Ausbon Sargent Land Trust from the Webster Conservation Trust Fund in support of the Trumbull Pond Project. The motion passed unanimously. It was agreed that, in light of the current economy, we should not ask for funds for the project at the next Town Meeting. |
Update on Currier and Ives Scenic Byway
|
Susan reported that representatives from the various towns have agreed to pursue a DOT grant for signs along the route. The group, which is also discussing longer-range objectives, must apply for funds before March. |
New Business |
Betsy presented 12 photos she had taken last month showing the still-devastated terrain resulting from Gary Bardsley’s logging on Little Hill two years ago. Betsy said that Harold Janeway has drafted a bill that would impose heavy fines on such repeat offenders and would allow towns to deny “intent to cut” permits to any loggers who had not paid fines imposed in the past. Copies of the photos will be forwarded to MJ so they can be incorporated into a PowerPoint presentation in the future. |
Meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
