UPGRADED WATER BAN EFFECTIVE AUGUST 17
The Wayland Water Division is issuing the attached Water Supply Status Report to inform Wayland Water customers of the current water supply conditions.

Effective August 17, 2016, the Water Division is upgrading its level of Water Use Restriction to the following:

  • Underground sprinklers & above ground sprinklers attached to hoses:  Underground and above ground sprinkler use is prohibited until the termination of the Water Ban.
  • Handheld Hose:  Handheld hose watering is permitted after 5:00 pm.
On August 12, 2016, the Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs upgraded the Drought Status for the Northeast Region of the State to a Drought Warning.  Areas within the Drought Warning, including Wayland, are currently experiencing precipitation levels 5 to 8 inches below normal. Our Water System is currently keeping up with daily water demand, but the ground water levels measured at our sources are below normal.

The increase in water use restrictions is vital to ensure the supply of potable drinking water and to provide water for fire protection.
