Wayland Joins West Suburban Veterans' Services District
For the past 13 years, John Turchinetz has admirably served the community as Wayland’s Veterans’ Officer.  John retires effective August 16, 2012.  Town officials and staff express our heart-felt thanks to John for his dedicated service and for going the “extra mile” in helping Wayland’s veterans.

In anticipation of John’s retirement, Wayland applied for membership in the West Suburban Veteran’s District.  Membership was granted and approved by the Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services.  Wayland joins a District which prevously included the Towns of Needham, Wellesley and Weston.  Stanley Spear serves as the full-time District Director.  Matthew Ching is the part-time Assistant Director.  Pat Thompson provides administrative support.

As Wayland’s Veterans’ Agent, the District works independently and in accordance with state laws and regulations manages and participates in the administration of benefits available to eligible veterans and their dependents.  All Veteran's Agents receive guidance and oversight by the Commonwealth's Secretary of Veterans' Services.

Wayland office hours will be held at the Wayland Town Building, 41 Cochituate Road, on the following days and times:

During August 2012:
Every Thursday, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Beginning September 2012:
Every Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon
