The Board of Selectmen held an organizational meeting on Monday, April 30, 2012 at which time John Bladon was elected chair and Steve Correia was elected vice-chair. The posts are held until the first meeting of the next Board of Selectmen when it convenes following adjournment of the 2013 Annual Town Meeting.
Senior Selectman Joe Nolan convened the meeting and asked for nominations. John Bladon was the consensus choice for chair. Newly-elected Selectman Doug Leard was nominated for vice-chair, noting his previous six years of service on the Board, but he politely declined the opportunity this year citing the workload of a master's degree program in emergency management in which he is enrolled through the spring of 2013. While both Joe Nolan and Steve Correia indicated a willingness to serve as vice-chair, Mr. Nolan nominated Mr. Correia and he was unanimously elected.
Mr. Bladon is entering his third year as a Selectman. John is retired from a successful consulting career in financial services, most recently as manager of the Boston office of Arthur Anderson (now Accenture).
Mr. Correia is entering his fifth year of service as a Selectman. Steve also worked in the consulting field in financial management and reporting, as well as software development and applications.
